The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has highlighted the critical role of empowering women in achieving the federal government’s $1 trillion economy target by 2030.
In a statement issued on Tuesday during the distribution of food items as part of the government’s year-end intervention program, she emphasized the administration’s commitment to addressing the needs of vulnerable Nigerians.
“The Renewed Hope Year-End intervention for vulnerable Women and Families reflects President Bola Tinubu’s mission to address the pressing needs of vulnerable groups. This initiative marks the beginning of a new era, one where no one is left behind,” the minister remarked.
She underscored the importance of women in realizing Nigeria’s economic ambitions, stating, “As part of Mr. President’s renewed hope vision, we seek to build a $1 trillion economy, and women are central to achieving this ambitious goal. By unlocking the full potential of women across various sectors, from agriculture to the creative and digital industries, we can create a transformative impact on Nigeria’s economy and society.”
According to Sulaiman-Ibrahim, the initiative aims to alleviate the economic hardships faced by women and families. She also noted that this effort would be extended nationwide to fulfill President Tinubu’s commitment to improving the welfare of women and children.
“As we approach a new year, President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to expanding its mission of protecting and empowering women, children, their families, and other vulnerable groups. We aim to bring fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to safeguarding, protecting, and empowering women and children across Nigeria. Women are the backbone of our society and empowering them is essential to fostering strong and resilient communities,” she added.
The Director-General of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, Dr. Asabe Bashir and the National President of the Defence Police Officers Wives Association, Mrs. Oghogho Musa, both praised the initiative as timely.
They lauded the Ministry for addressing the immediate needs of vulnerable groups.
The intervention witnessed several women groups celebrating, singing praises of President Tinubu as they received packages of rice and other essential condiments to support their families.
