Super Eagles striker, Sadiq Umar, has joined Valencia CF on a six-month loan deal from La Liga rivals Real Sociedad, with an option for a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old forward’s move was officially announced by Valencia on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
Umar was unveiled as Valencia’s latest signing and expressed optimism about the opportunity to reignite his career after returning from a challenging injury.
In a statement shared on the Valencia website, Umar explained why he chose the club, emphasizing the alignment between his ambitions and Valencia’s current state.
“When I started talking to Miguel, I realized that there was a lot of coincidence between Valencia CF and me because there is a lot of sports hunger in me,” Umar said.
He acknowledged the club’s difficult situation and how it resonated with his determination.
“I have also seen that due to the situation of the Club it is also very hungry,” he added.
Discussing his return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury, Umar expressed confidence in his fitness and readiness to make an impact.
“I suffered this knee injury. Before I was at my best, but now I feel 100% physically, what I need is continuity,” Umar stated.
He also outlined his primary objectives as a striker: “As a forward, what I want is to score goals and have the best possible results.”
Despite struggling to regain his pre-injury form, Umar hopes to turn things around at Valencia.
Currently sitting 19th in La Liga, Valencia faces a tough battle to avoid relegation.
Umar’s arrival is seen as a potential boost to the club’s attacking options as they aim to climb out of the danger zone.
