Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has announced a three-day period of mourning and prayers in honor of the late Secretary to the State Government, Temitayo Oluwatuyi, who passed away on Saturday following a car accident.
During a condolence visit to the family in Akure on Sunday, Governor Aiyedatiwa paid tribute to Oluwatuyi, describing him as a man who lived a purposeful life and left a lasting legacy.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan confirmed the announcement.
Accompanied by members of the State Executive Council, the Governor assured the family of the government’s unwavering support during this challenging time.
“Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi was a central figure in the politics and governance of our state,” Aiyedatiwa remarked. “His contributions will forever be etched in the history of Ondo State. He was a true gentleman, living with humility and conducting both his public and private life with grace.”
The Governor also connected with Oluwatuyi’s children, who reside abroad, via a video call, extending his condolences and prayers.
In the condolence register, he wrote, “Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, you came, you lived, you performed your God-given tasks, and you impacted lives. Though your departure was unexpected, it is clear that God has called you home. May you find eternal rest in His bosom.”
Special prayers for the family, the Akure community, and the entire state were led by Pastor Ayoade Babalola, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Infrastructure.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that the late Oluwatuyi’s legacy as a dedicated public servant would not be forgotten.
“He was a man who touched many lives positively, and we owe it to his memory to uphold the values he represented,” he said.
The mourning period runs from Sunday, January 5, to Tuesday, January 7, 2025, during which the Governor has called for prayers in honor of the deceased.
