Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich secured a tense 4-2 victory over Heidenheim on Saturday, with substitute Jamal Musiala delivering two second-half goals to seal the win.
The Bavarians, preparing to face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday, were without key players Harry Kane, Manuel Neuer, and Serge Gnabry due to injuries.
Determined to recover from their midweek German Cup loss to Bayer Leverkusen—their first domestic defeat of the season—Bayern dominated from the outset and broke the deadlock in the 18th minute when Dayot Upamecano, left unmarked, nodded the ball into the net.
Heidenheim, battling to escape their slump of six losses in seven league matches, struggled to break through Bayern’s midfield during the first half.
However, their first real opportunity came in the 50th minute, courtesy of an Upamecano error that allowed Mathias Honsak to capitalize and score with ease.
Their celebrations were short-lived, as Musiala restored Bayern’s lead just five minutes later, firing a precise shot from inside the box.
Leon Goretzka extended the advantage in the 84th minute with a deflected effort, but Heidenheim responded quickly with Niclas Doresch tapping in to make it 3-2.
In stoppage time, Musiala delivered a brilliant solo run to secure the result and notch his eighth league goal of the season, calming the home side’s nerves.
The victory keeps Bayern undefeated in the Bundesliga, maintaining their grip on the top spot with 33 points.
