The Delta State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has confirmed the safe release of two officers who were kidnapped last Thursday.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. near the agency’s headquarters, situated off Isah-Ogwashi-Uku Road in the Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to earlier reports by The PUNCH, the officers were ambushed by armed assailants while leaving work.
In an update provided on Monday in Asaba, the command’s spokesperson, Mr. John Kennedy, revealed that the abductees were freed unhurt late on Sunday night.
Their release came following sustained pressure mounted by the NDLEA and collaborating security agencies.
Kennedy clarified earlier misinformation regarding the incident, stating, “The senior officer was not abducted along with his orderly as it was reported. The senior officer was abducted and another officer was abducted in another location entirely.”
The release of the officers underscores the coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies in tackling criminal activities.
While further details about the perpetrators and the circumstances leading to the release remain undisclosed, the swift response by the NDLEA and its allies highlights their commitment to ensuring the safety of personnel.
