The Federal Government has announced the reassignment of Pro-Chancellors in the Governing Councils of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, and the Federal University, Lokoja.
A statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Education on Wednesday confirmed the changes, which were approved by President Bola Tinubu.
The adjustments are aimed at enhancing governance and fostering national integration in the institutions.
The statement, signed by the Ministry’s Director of Press, Folashade Boriowo, revealed that Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba SAN has been appointed as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of FUOYE’s Governing Council. Similarly, Kayode Ojo will now occupy the same role at FULokoja.
The Ministry clarified that the reshuffle aligns with its policy to promote impartiality and diversity in university governance by ensuring Pro-Chancellors are appointed from outside the states where the institutions are located.
The outgoing Pro-Chancellor of FUOYE, Engr. Kayode Ojo, hails from Ekiti State, prompting the reassignment.
“This initiative underscores the Ministry’s commitment to fostering inclusivity, impartial governance, and the values of national unity,” the statement emphasised.
