Prominent Nigerian human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, has regained his freedom after spending weeks in detention at a prison in Ekiti State.
His release was confirmed by Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, who shared the news on his official X account on Tuesday.
“I am delighted to announce that Dele Farotimi has been released from custody in Ekiti and is on his way back to Lagos,” Sowore stated.
He added, “The fight for justice continues! Wishing everyone a joyous holiday season.”
Farotimi’s detention followed a contentious legal dispute involving senior lawyer Afe Babalola.
