A Chief Magistrate’s Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, has ordered the remand of Naomi Ogunwusi, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, alongside the principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Mr Abdullah Fasasi, and veteran broadcaster Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, at the Agodi Correctional Centre.
The three defendants were arraigned on four counts, including conspiracy and murder, in connection with a stampede that occurred during a children’s end-of-year funfair at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of 35 individuals, including children, on Wednesday.
Presiding Magistrate Bisi Ogunkanmi remanded the defendants following their plea of not guilty to the charges. The court has scheduled the next hearing for January 14, 2025.
