The National Emergency Management Agency in collaboration with various organizations, has welcomed the second group of Nigerian returnees from Niger.
The agency shared this update via its official X account on Monday, noting that the arrival took place at the Immigration Training School on Airport Road, Kano.
“A total of 392 individuals arrived at about 3:05 PM. Upon arrival, the returnees were profiled and registered to ensure proper documentation and access to necessary support.
“Among the group were 176 adult males, 122 adult females, and 94 children, comprising 78 boys and 16 girls,” the statement read in part.
The operation saw active involvement from several partners, including the International Organization for Migration, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons, the Kano State Emergency Management Agency, the Nigerian Immigration Services, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.
In November, the Lagos Territorial Office of NEMA, alongside other agencies, had received 148 returnees repatriated from the Niger Republic.
The International Organization for Migration Mission in Niger facilitated that earlier return, which included 120 adult males, nine adult females, 10 male children, seven female children, and two infants.
