President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as the Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
His tenure begins on December 15, 2024, following the end of Haliru Nababa’s service.
Nababa, appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari on February 18, 2021, has completed his tenure.
In a statement issued on Friday, Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board, confirmed Ndidi’s appointment.
“The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has graciously approved the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service,” the statement read.
“This follows the expiration of the tenure of Haliru Nababa. The appointment takes effect from December 15, 2024.”
Ndidi, born on November 26, 1966, in Oguta, Imo State, previously served as the Deputy Controller-General overseeing the Training and Staff Development Directorate.
He is a fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies and holds the Member of the Federal Republic national honor.
President Tinubu urged Ndidi to leverage his extensive experience to enhance the operations of the Correctional Service. “The President enjoined him to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new capacity,” the statement added.
