Once again, Nigerians faced widespread power outages on Wednesday as the national grid suffered another collapse, marking the 12th incident in 2024.
The grid has gone down 11 times between January and November 2024.
In October alone, the grid collapsed three times in just one week, triggering widespread frustration and outcry across the country.
The latest collapse occurred at 2:09 pm on Wednesday, as confirmed in a tweet from the official handle of Nigeria’s National Grid.
“The major grid setback has occurred and the restoration is to commence,” the statement read.
This unfortunate incident sets a new record, marking the highest number of grid failures in a single year.
