The Nigerian Army has rescued four individuals held captive by kidnappers in Ugbolu Forest, Delta State.
The victims, who were freed following a successful raid, have since been reunited with their families.
According to a statement by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Emmanuel Onoja, on Wednesday, troops from the 63 Brigade carried out the operation on Monday, December 9, 2024, after receiving credible intelligence.
“Acting on reliable information, our troops launched a decisive raid on the kidnappers’ hideout in Ugbolu Forest,” Onoja disclosed.
“During the operation, the kidnappers were engaged in a fierce gun battle, leading to their defeat and the rescue of the victims.”
The victims, who had reportedly been held for several days while the kidnappers demanded ransom, were immediately provided medical care before being reunited with their families.
“The quick and coordinated response of the troops foiled the kidnappers’ plans and brought much-needed relief to the victims and their families,” Onoja added.
The statement further emphasized the Army’s commitment to combating crime in Delta State and safeguarding the lives of its residents.
“We encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities,” Onoja stated.
